Marine Painter

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Journeyman Marine Painters for projects located in and around Freeland, WA.  This is a full time opportunity with a pay range of $26-31/hour based on experience and certifications held.  If you are a Marine Painter and want to work alongside other proven craftsmen who emphasize safety, productivity and superior craftsmanship, this is your chance to advance your career! 

Job Scope:

• Prepare steel parts and large steel structures (e.g., tanks, deck enclosures, valve assemblies, hull plates, wing compartments)
• Abrade metal surfaces using sandblasting equipment to achieve specified finish
• Shovel or pour sand into sandblasting machine hopper
• Set up and prepare blasting equipment
• Manually direct blast nozzle to treat surfaces
• Mask, prime, caulk, and paint surfaces using:
  • Conventional and airless spray systems
  • Brushes and rollers
  • Select premixed paints or mix pigments, oils, thinners, and driers to match specified colors
  • Apply a variety of protective coatings, including: Polyamine-cured pure epoxy, Urethanes, Anti-fouling coatings
• Inspect painted surfaces for complete coverage, correct thickness, and compliance with job specifications and SSPC (Society for Protective Coatings) standards
• Maintain and clean hoses, nozzles, and pumps, pressure tanks and spray guns, spray tips, and related tools

Requirements:

• • Standard PPE
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and in hazardous environments
  • Able to follow all standard safety procedures
  • Certifications in Marine Painting are preferred
