Shipfitter

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Shipfitters for projects located in Newport News, VA. This is a first shift opportunity and the pay rate is up to $45/hour based on experience and skill level plus $140/per diem for travelers 60+ miles from the job site. Job Scope:        

• Manual Oxygen/Propane Burning and Heating Torches
• Working with vibratory tools, grinders, and needle guns
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging
• Fabricate and assemble steel structures based on blueprints and specifications
• Erect and set up complex-shaped shell plates, decks, bulkheads, and more
• Use work packages and drawings to plan and execute tasks

• Must hold US citizenship to meet necessary badging requirements
• Experience with structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols
• Ability to fabricate, assemble, and install complex structural parts (e.g., hull inserts,
  foundations, decks)
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations in shipbuilding
• Physically capable to work in demanding environments
