Shipfitter

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring skilled Shipfitters for projects located in and around Newport News, VA. This job offers multiple shifts with a pay rate of $27-41/hour based on experience & skill level plus $120-150/per diem for travelers of 60+ miles from the job site.  If you are a Shipfitter and want to work alongside other proven craftsmen who emphasize safety, productivity and superior craftsmanship, this is your chance to advance your career! 

Job Scope:

• Multi-pass tack welding
• Working with propane burning torch & heating torch
• Assemble structural piece parts in accordance with specifications in quality manner
• Work with carbon arc gouging
• Use work packages & drawings to plan & execute work
• Use molded lines & ship references lines to execute work
• Erect, set, & makeup complex shaped shell plates
  
• Erect, set, & makeup decks, bulkheads, longitudinals, trunks, etc.
• Install & replace hull inserts & penetrations
• Install miscellaneous & complex foundations
• Use vibratory tools grinders and needle guns
• Other tasks as assigned

Requirements:

• 4+ Years of Commercial/Naval Experience as a First Class Shipfitter
• Skills in Multi-Pass Tack Welding
• Skills in Burning Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch & Heating Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch
• Ability to comprehend complex structural assembly drawings blueprints and sketches to include weld symbols material types datum and reference lines.
• Experience working in a physically demanding environment shipbuilding steel fabrication etc.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry
• Must pass Background Check & Drug Screen
