Job Description: FCAW (dual shield flux) process welding. 1/16" (.0625) wire on 1/2" carbon steel plate in horizontal 2G, Vertical up 3G, Overhead 4G. All test plates will have a backing strip. Three test coupons will go thru bend testing. Welding will begin in the rail car division and then transition into marine work welding on tug boats.
Pre Employment Qualifications: - Candidates are required to take a 10 panel UA conducted at US Healthworks or Concentra. They will also be given an HPE (human performance evaluation – see below). Candidates must complete the OSHA questionnaire and be evaluated by a physician to wear a respirator.
Respirator Fit Test Required 3M 7500 series. Candidates will need to take a fit test for a respirator. They can do this directly at US Healthworks/Concentra when taking their drug screen. Must be clean shaven.
Background Check Required: Candidates must submit to a background investigation conducted via Sterling Solutions
Marine Structural Welders must be proficient in FCAW and SMAW welding processes and be able to set up machine and weld in horizontal 2g, vertical up 3g and over head positions 4g with .045 & .052 wire and 7018 stick.
Welders must be able to read and interpret some blueprints and weld symbols and pass ABS testing qualifications prior to starting in production.
Maritime OSHA 10 hour training is preferred and applicants that can provide proof of training will have priority to apply.
